Retrievo is a metasearch engine that represents a single access point to all information resources in an institution. Retrievo is capable of searching the library catalogue, institutional repository, institution’s Web site, as well as any other remote database or information service.
Retrievo provides advanced search, faceted filtering, tagging and commenting, RSS feeds, thumbnails of the documents automatically retrieved from data providers or collected from Google Books, and much more.
Retrievo uses a local index to search faster and caches all search results for improved performance. Results are consolidated and sorted by relevance, title, creator, subject, description, publisher, year or contributor.
Retrievo is compatible with the following protocols: OAI-PMH, Z39.50, SRU, SOAP services, SQL connectors, and any other custom developed gateway. This makes it suitable to query systems such as DSpace, DigiTool, EPrints, Aleph, Koha and others.
Retrievo is also an OAI-PMH data provider, as it is capable of exposing harvested records to the outside world, making it particularly interesting for the implementation of national-wide search services that are to be integrated with international aggregators such as Europeana, Driver, APEnet or any other federated search service.
Retrievo offers the ability to locate information geographically dispersed and managed by heterogeneous information systems. Information querying and retrieval is always done on a single and uniform interface that allows the user to perform operations such as simple search and advanced search, look at tag clouds, apply filters to the results, view thumbnails of documents, etc.
Retrievo portals are 100% compatible with OAI-PMH and are able to collect metadata from systems as diverse as DSpace, DigiTool, EPrints, Aleph, Koha and others.
